Antonia Guzman has a thing about travelling. Admitting that she doesn’t like her suitcase «to get cold». Her exhibition, entitled «On waiting, arrivals and departures» explores a variety of aspects of the human soul.

In some pieces the blue tones seem to echo the colours of the ocean, the reds and browns the colour of the Argentinian land, in particular her beloved Tilcara in the northwest of Argentina. The emotional power of her work can be found in the contradiction between what can be seen on the surface and the hidden intentions. Peaceful images carry with them the subtle feeling of waiting, arriving and departing, which can be distressing but also joyful. «In my work I tell stories that I am told, those I pretend I am told and those I imagine I could be told…» Antonia explains. The contradicting clues that are suggested in the work trigger off, rather than shut out, thoughts and ideas.
